Mimiaga’s sky paintings focus on the evanescent clouds. Working to seize the shifting forms, changing effects of light, and atmospheric hues, her paintings not only suggest of familiar imagery but also evoke an intense emotion. She is a bold colorist and her brushwork displays daring bravura inspired by masters Sorolla and Sargent.
Mimiaga has a B. S. Degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Her art instruction includes the Honolulu Academy of Art, Academy of Art in San Francisco, the College of Marin and master workshops from prominent California artists. Mimiaga’s solo exhibition of ‘Food and Plastic’ was held at Café Museo at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
